Meet the Team
Meet Destiny
This is Destiny Windham, a Growing Leaders veteran. She has accumulated so much experience in the garden, and probably knows more about how Growing Leaders works than anyone besides the teachers. She probably knows even more than some of the teachers! She started working with the summer employment program her first summer after 8th grade in 2013, and since then has been a steady, hardworking, and inspiring part of Growing Leaders in the summer and during the school year.
Age: 17
Grade: 11th
Short Term Goal: To maintain a 3.5 GPA and fulfill all class requirements needed to go straight to university after graduating.
Something People Might Not Know by Looking at Me: Destiny is amazingly driven. She is constantly busy, going from school, to the College Career Center to work on homework, then to varsity basketball practice (for which she earned MVP the past two years) until 8pm, then home to more homework. In Destiny's spare time, she runs her own baking business: Sweet Destiny's Baked Goods. Her most requested recipes are her 7Up Cake and Lemon Bundt Cake. She says she figures out ingredient pricing and costs so that she can make a profit. Destiny is religious, with her church her community and a major support system in her life.
Favorite Song: Kathy Taylor "Oh How Precious"
